Roots in Retail
Born into a family of independent retail grocers in northeastern Oklahoma, Blake Bowersock grew up surrounded by produce, canned goods, a meat market, refrigerated and frozen foods, with customers looking for friendly service, quality groceries, and at fair prices. Banana LaffyTaffy (his favorite) was sold in a square block, wrapped in wax paper and cost only a nickel. In a world without barcodes and scanners, Blake was running a cash register by the time he was eight years old, counting back cash to customers without a machine giving him the answer.
Blake's dynamic consulting career began in 2003 working for Accenture based in Dallas. After eight years of weekly, cross-country travel (and Texas heat) he relocated to Chicago to help build EY's (Ernst & Young's) re-emerging advisory practice. After five more years of 100% travel, including to the Middle East, he launched his own independent consultancy in 2016, enchanted by all that Charlotte, North Carolina had (and continues) to offer.
It was from this point in Charlotte that Blake seized an opportunity to move away from Resources and Financial Services clients to jump back into the Retail saddle, contracting with Lowe's Companies HR department for nearly three years. In 2019, Blake joined the renowned Kates Kesler Organization Consulting, now part of Accenture, where he grew his craft of and passion for solving problems through holistic organization design.

The Wishbone Name
To Blake, 'wishbone' means:
-
Thinking strategically (know the competition)
-
Evaluating options (making a plan)
-
Aligning the team
-
Experimenting through execution, and
-
Constantly reevaluating decisions

A religious follower of Oklahoma Sooners Football Blake's entire life, the 'wishbone' was an offensive attack scheme used by Sooners coach legend Barry Switzer and was considered to be the most productive and innovative offensive scheme in college football during the 1970s and 1980s.

Every snap provided the quarterback with three options to move the football (run, handoff, or pass) while accounting for every defender on the field. The alignment of the key players on offense created an inverted "Y" or wishbone shape.
